David Gibson, LVN, has offered an advisory to the Society Board regarding the COVID-19 outbreak.
Amid the COVID-19 outbreak the CDC’s Official recommendations are as follows:
- Limit Group events to 10 or less.
- Keep social distance (of 6 feet or greater).
- Practice good hand hygiene.
- Sanitize surfaces with high traffic, for example door knobs, countertops, and tables .
Given the nature of an IFGS event with large groups of people, some in the High Risk category, it does not seem feasible to follow the CDC’s recommendations at an IFGS event. The health and safety of our members is our highest priority as an organization, and for that reason, it is the recommendation of the IFGS Society Board to postpone all in-person IFGS events.
The Society Board will review these recommendations in May, then on a monthly basis going forward, as necessary.
The new Fantasy Rules 8.0 Beta update is up and ready for playtest! We’ve got two new playable classes, Alchemist and Bard, and new specializations for existing classes, plus a lot of other updates. Download the new ruleset now and get ready to try it out. Remember to send your feedback to the FRC!
The Blue Book has gotten an update as well. Blue Book 2.15 brings a new type of toy to the game: Focus Enhancements. Like weapon and armor enhancements, these boosts add a numerical bonus, this time to the effects of healing and damaging skills, abilities, and spells. Version 2.15 also features an overhaul of the Magic Item Activation section, aimed at clearing up some confusion about just how some items work, especially Autocast and Autoactivate toys.
The FRC wanted to make all the class changes available to as many people as possible. Here is all the current class spec, minus the monk which is being worked on. Additionally the fighter is due for major changes but here is the current version until those changes are done.
As usual, these are still in play testing so no magic items may be built off of them. Please provide any play test feedback to the FRC when you can and please post these so your individual groups can have them.
Update from the FRC 2018-05-08
The Fantasy Rules version 7 has been made available in PDF form on the IFGS web site.

The FRC has posted some new entries in the Hits and Misses document. The changes include a clarification/amendment to the Dropsy rule around items strapped to a player’s arm, as well as some changes to flag length rule that takes the minimum length from 18 inches down to 11 inches.
The Fantasy Rules Committee has released two changes to the 7.0 rules. These are the Bard class and the Cleric Specializations of Battle Cleric, Healer, and Monster Hunter.
At this time these changes are in a play-test mode and a GP must approve their use in a game. The FRC would like feedback from individuals who play in a game where these are used. Please send the feedback to the FRC along with the chapter name, game name and date of running with your comments. Constructive criticism, both positive and negative is appreciated and desired.
Since these rules are in playtest and are not finalized yet, no magic item may be created using these new abilities. If a person creates a Bard character and the class is eventually rejected or changed drastically then the player may change that PC to a different class by registering the change with his local bank representative. The FRC will post updates as they occur.
