IFGS BOARD MEETING MINUTES
9/12/18 – Final
Wherein the FRC released the new Alchemist Class for playtesting, and discussed the Monk Class. A Game Library Task Force was suggested, but volunteers have yet to be found. Brett Paul announced his return to action on the Tech Committee. Northern Alabama Chapter was interviewed on a “Let’s Connect North Alabama” podcast.ORV and Central Ohio Chapters are running games. Fall Elections are on the horizon, and Society urgently needs an Election Chair. The Ballot will include recommended language changes to the Society Constitution and By-Laws.
The 9/12/18 Society Board Meeting was called to order at 8:03 p.m. Eastern Time, via Discord. Present were Board Members John Jones, Brad Evenson, Sarah Gibson, Hugh Greene, Pat McGehearty, and David Spence. Olan Knight was absent. Janice Gott Society Clerk, Melanie Greene from the Northern Alabama Chapter, Bret Halford from the Denver/Boulder Chapter, Brett Paul from Dallas Chapter, and Hope Fountain & Shelly Ralston from ORV Chapter also attended.
STANDING BUSINESS:
MINUTES: MOTION: To approve the minutes of the 8/15/18 Board Meeting (Evenson, Spence, by acclaim).
FRC REPORT: The FRC met last week and discussed the Monk Class. They released the Alchemist Class for playtesting, and it is available on the ifgs.org website.
SSC REPORT: No new activity. McGehearty suggested a Game Library Task Force to seek out and update suitable SPP games. ORV Provisional Chapter is having trouble locating game writers to get permission to update old ORV and Central Ohio games.
REGISTRY: No report.
TECH COMMITTEE: Brett Paul says he has more time to focus on Tech Committee now. He sees that the Board wishes to get rid of the forums. The website also needs some fine tuning, and the playtest documents all need to be added to the site.
GENERAL PROMOTIONS: No report from Gibson. Greene says that “Let’s Connect Northern Alabama” recorded a podcast with their chapter, but it has not been edited and posted yet.
CONSTITUTIONAL REVIEW TASK FORCE: Greene is finishing the final amendments proposal and the Task Force will submit it to the Board prior to the October Board Meeting, to include on the November ballot.
CHAPTER LIAISON UPDATES: Central Ohio ran a room game and ORV is planning a recruitment game at a convention in October, followed by novice games in the next few months.
FALL ELECTIONS: Society needs an Election Chair. Gibson will see if Christopher Seals would like to continue as Election Chair for another year. Society Board positions up for election are Hugh Greene, John Jones, Olan Knight and David Spence.
EXECUTIVE SESSION: The Board moved into an executive session at 8:34 p.m. They exited the executive session at 9:12 p.m.
MOTION: To approve the draft communication to a Chapter Board as proposed by the President (McGehearty, Evenson, by acclamation).
ELECTION CHAIR: Christopher Seals responded that he would not be interested in the position of Election Chair this year, so it is urgent that a volunteer be found.
NEXT MEETING: The next Board Meeting will be on Tuesday, October 16th. Times for the meeting are 5 pm Pacific, 6 pm MST, 7 pm CST, and 8 pm EST. The meeting will be held on Discord. The meeting was adjourned at 9:33 pm EST.
