IFGS BOARD MEETING MINUTES
3/23/17 Final
Including Hits & Misses, Adding Robert Armbruster to the Tech Committee, and IFGS banner.
The 3/23/17 Society Board Meeting was called to order at 8:25 p.m. Eastern Time. Present were Board Members John Jones, Olan Knight, Sarah Gibson, Pat McGehearty, Brad Evenson, and Hugh Greene. David Spence was absent, proxy to Evenson. Melanie Greene from N. Alabama Chapter was present. David Gibson from Dallas Chapter arrived late. Janice Gott Society Clerk also attended.
STANDING BUSINESS:
MINUTES: MOTION: To approve the minutes of the 2/16/17 Board Meeting (Knight, McGehearty, by acclaim).
FRC REPORT: Evenson noted that the FRC is working on new and old rules sets. They will be publishing a new item in Hits & Misses, regarding “Evade,” making it subject to the 5 second rule. Greene notes that there are rules clarifications, bordering on rules changes, in the recently updated Hits & Misses that have not been widely advertised, such as on the IFGS website and Facebook. One change, on dual weapons usage, which is under playtest by the FRC, should be considered a rules change if implemented, and not a clarification appropriate for the Hits & Misses. The Hits & Misses should be amended if necessary and appropriately posted where all can access it. The committee recommends David Spence as FRC Chair.
MOTION: To approve David Spence as Chair of the FRC (Knight, McGehearty, 6-0-1, Spence abstains).
SSC REPORT: Jones says the SSC has still not met recently. Three positions will come open at the end of March and will be advertised.
REGISTRY: Knight has finalized the list of 2016 Admin CAP to the Society. He asks that Chapter Registry Chairs send him their annual Chapter Admin CAP lists, as he has not received any Chapter lists yet except for Dallas.
TECH COMMITTEE: Jones and Brett Paul are updating the Trello Board (To Do List). There is a new volunteer for the Tech Committee, Robert Armbruster from Dallas Chapter.
MOTION: To add Robert Armbruster to the Tech Committee (McGehearty, Evenson 2nd, by acclaim).
GENERAL PROMOTIONS: Gibson consulted with N. Alabama Chapter. They are looking for a high resolution scan of the stylized “IFGS” letters to make a banner, but one cannot be found at sufficient resolution, and it may need to be approximated.
CONSTITUTIONAL REVIEW TASK FORCE: They are going to check the committee charters to sync them with the constitution. Greene will be setting up a meeting in the next month.
CHAPTER LIAISON UPDATES: Dallas is running games. D/B Chapter dispersed their props locker. N. Alabama is running games. They have a promotional event coming up June 23-25 at HamaCon, an anime convention in Huntsville, AL.
CONTINUING BUSINESS
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA CHAPTER DISSOLUTION: No action.
SCIFI RULES COMMITTEE: They have discussed range vs. melee weapons and combat.
NEW BUSINESS
No new business.
NEXT MEETING: The next IFGS Board Meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 19th. Times for the meeting are 6 pm Pacific, 7 pm MST, 8 pm CST, and 9 pm EST. The meeting will be held on Skype at i_f_g_s or 720.259.1667. The meeting was adjourned at 9:53 pm EST.
